Baby Johnson Cleans your Makeup Brushes

IMG_5365Cleaning your makeup brushes on a regular basis is an absolute must for many reasons.  After multiple uses, bristles begin to build up with residual makeup, which makes them less effective when it comes to application and they become a home for bacteria that will irritate your skin and cause breakouts.

Professional makeup artists usually clean their brushes after every use, but for us at-home users, every week is a good time, but again it depends on often you use them.

  • Step 1 You’ll need Baby Johnson and a fresh towel to lay the brushes on to dry. .
  • Step 2 Add Baby Johnson on to a surface , run your brush’s tip under lukewarm water and gently swirl the brush tip of a surface (a bowl). Tip: Never turn brushes up vertically — make sure they’re always facing downward — otherwise, water will weaken the glue that holds the bristles together.
  • Step 3 Once all the residue is completely gone, set your brush flat on the towel to dry.

Instead of using a bowl or the surface of my sink I’ve been using the Cleaning Mat by Sigma Beauty. I love it because it has 7 different textures to remove everything off your makeup brush without damaging the brush.

Clump the Lashes

Sometimes I love the idea of makeup being a little bit messy. Mascara is the best cosmetic to achieve this look.

For this look, apply multiple coats of mascara, deliberately clumping the lashes together and tapping the skin under the lower lashes with the end of the wand. Careful though you don’t want to be too messy too.

Coconut Oil as a Makeup Remover?

Coconut oil, a favorite of the Victoria’s Secret Models, that reminds you of the sand on your feet and salted breeze by the beach.

Other than its fresh and beach-y scent it has great benefits for the skin, acting as a makeup remover is one of them. I was surprised by how quickly it took off eye makeup and by how easily it worked and it actually removes waterproof mascara without rubbing the eye out.

Surprisingly so many celebrities are on for this routine, some use it as a natural mouth wash (removing stains from the teeth), some use it as a makeup remover and others use it as a form of the “no make up look” as a dewy look.

Here’s How:- Since coconut oil is solid at room temperature, scoop out a little and rub it between your fingers to warm it up first. Smooth that over your skin with your fingers, then wipe it off with a dry cotton ball and it’ll take your makeup with it. Repeat until all of your makeup is gone and then maybe one or two more times.

Why?: Coconut oil breaks up water-resistant substances used in eye shadow and mascara, releasing them from the skin and lashes, it’ll even leave your skin softer and younger-looking. It’s great for your skin, because it moisturizes, soothes and hydrates.

***Disclaimer : Please do not use if you have allergies or skin irritation.

Farsali Volcanic Elixir – My Thoughts

I tried the first product of Farsali almost a year ago or so, few months after its release. I thought it was another beauty brand that just mixed a bunch of oils in a bottle and claimed it’s great for the skin. I was wrong, I loved it.

This time, I decided to try the Volcanic Elixir – and WOW.66950A7A-79EF-4C94-B8DD-7B73408BEF87

What this Oil is made of:

The oil is extracted from the nut kernels of the Tamanu fruit, which flourishes in the south pacific islands of Polynesia, due to the volcanic atmosphere. Volcanoes have a very good effect to the surrounding soil. The Volcanic ash contains minerals that are beneficial to plants and provide nutrients to the soil.

Benefits:

The properties in oil can help regenerate skin tissue. It also has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibiotic, and antioxidant properties, making it ideal for acne sufferers.
The Volcanic Elixir aids in regenerating new healthy skin. It can be used on acne and acne scars, dry and scaly skin, stretch marks, etc. The oil does have a strong scent (disappears few minutes after application).

Why I love It:

The Volcanic Elixir is a thick and heavy oil with a strong nutty aroma and yellow color. It is best to use this at night because of the strong scent and thickness of the oil. I either apply it before bed, or throughout the evening when I have a solid 2 hours at home. The thickness of the oil takes time to get absorbed and that is why you need to dedicate time for it.

I absolutely love the effect it had on my skin, it left my skin so soft and hydrated, sometimes I experience redness in my pores in my T-Zone area, but this oil manages to close the pores and reduce the oils that are extracted. I also have some scars and this oil also managed to reduce them, I’m in love with it.

Another plus is that I use a drop of oil on my lips, wait 30 minutes and then I apply a liquid lipstick, usually these lipsticks dry out your lips, so with this oil I don’t find any problems. If I feel my lips are still dry I re-apply the oil after I remove the lipstick.

For your Eyeshape

When it comes to eyeliner, there isn’t a shape that is going to make you look bad, but the way you line your eye can either make the makeup look bad and outdated.

1426176842-syn-2-1426110166-eyeliner-1

Asymmetrical Eyes: (One is slightly larger than the other) Line the lashline, from the inner corner to the outer corner, increasing the width at the outer corner on the slightly uneven eye only to make it appear wider and even.

Close-Set Eyes: All you need to do for this eyeshape is create an illusion that your eyes are wider apart than they are. Use a concealer on the inner corners to lighten and open up the eye area. Then, on the outer third part of your eye, create a “V” shape using a black liner, and then trace the shape with a jumbo liquid liner to make a thick wing.

Monolids: Extend the Eyeliner/Eyeshadow along the upperlid. Line the lashline from inner to outer corner and stopping where the eye ends. You can also smudge it out at the outer corners, using a small smudger brush.

Wide Eyes : Wide eyes can handle a lot of look, so go bold/dramatic. Using a waterproof black liner pencil, create a tiny “V” in the inner corner of your eye. Then, go over the line with a liquid liner wing it out at the outer corner.

Small Eyes: To widen small eyes, apply a taupe shadow over the eyelid all the way up to the crease. Next, along the lashline, use a black kohl pencil, smudge it with your fingertip and top with a dark brown eye shadow, increasing the amount of shadow at the outer corners.  Lastly, apply a light pink blush using an eyeshadow brush to the upper outer corners of your eyelid, which instantly opens up the eye.

Almond Eyes: To work with almond eyes, line the inner upper and lower lashes with a waterproof kohl pencil the entire way around your eyes, then trace the outer corners of the upper and lower lashlines, smudging it with a smudged brush. Then, top it with a metallic grey shadow to soften it and use bronzer to even out with the crease for a more natural look.

Eyebrows on Fleek

eyebrowwax1Many of you use pencils, brushes or wands and sometimes we don’t know what’s the best option for us. I personally prefer Brow Gels.

Here’s why:- first, it colors in the hairs darker, without touching the skin behind them. This makes them bolder and show up more while still looking natural, as if you had them dyed. Second, you’ll discover hairs you didn’t know of.

Brushing Tip:- Brush upwards as you move across the brow, however switch directions once you reach the arch and brush the tail hairs towards your ear.

My Tip choice brow gels: 1- Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel. 2- Eyeko Tinted Brow Gel. 3- M.A.C Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set.
