The Eyeliner…

I never really moved with a certain makeup trend automatically, it usually takes me sometime to feel a trend and most of the time I don’t follow it.

But this one, the eyeliner trend. I love it, I am so into it I think it’s because I used to love wearing eyeliner in many ways as a teenager growing up. The eyeliner trend however, is not for everyone. It is a bold look of an incomplete wing, graphic or a crazy eyeliner look that defines the eyes.

Personally I feel makeup brings out my features, and in that sense I apply makeup in a way that really shows off my character. Experimenting with the different eyeliner trend is actually a way for me to express myself and what mood I am in. I love it.

Here are the top eyeliner trends:

1- Colored Eyeliner: I would go for a one color eyeliner or mix it with a little bit of black. The most subtle colors are purple, blue and emerald green or even gold it also matches with any of your outfits. You can apply it as a wing liner, or under eye the with a pencil to smudge it out.

2- Negative Space Eyeliner: It’s just the regular wing liner, just minus filling in the wing, so leave the inside of the wing unfilled.

3- Incomplete Wing: Start with a regular winged liner and the extend the line on top of your crease tracing it in a V Shape. Do not extend to more than 1/3rd the length of your eyelid. The easiest liquid liner that provides the easiest application is by Grandiose Liner by Lancome, (bendable eyeliner).

4- Dark Eyeliner: A classing eyeliner look only you make the line thicker and go for just black eyeliner. Apply the liner on the upper eyelid and lower connecting them in the inner corners of your eye.

Thoughts: Power Fabric by Giorgio Armani

Anything skin coverage its Armani Beauty for me. I am a huge fan of their foundations  Luminous Silk, Maestro and Power Fabric Foundation. I have them all and I use each one on different days / occasions depening on the look I am going for. I love how airy they apply and yet provide the coverage I need without irritating my skin.

To be honest I do not wear concealer everyday, I like it when my skin is able to breathe. So I apply concealer on occassions or if I really look tired.

When I heard there was a Power Fabric Concealer coming out, I got so excited. I remember going to the Armani counter at Selfridges and I wanted to try it instantly. I was surprised at how AMAZING it looked and felt on my skin. I thought it was just in my mind but it actually enhanced the shape of my eye. SOLD.

Right after trying the concealer at Selfridges

My current shade is 5.5, it provides high coverage yet feel so light and breathable with a velvet finish. I sometimes apply it on bare skin and it still looks the same, stays for long hours, blends so easily and comfortably and does not cake at ALL.

It is honestly a concealer that does it all: conceals reddness, blemishes, dark circles, wrinkles and fine lines by providing a brightener fresh complexion.

The concealer comes in 20 different shades and its applicator allows for application over large and small areas using different techniques.

I find it to be average priced, 32 GBP which is not expensive but not cheap. Personally I really think its worth the price and it lasts a long time.

This product is a YES !!!

Primer Tricks

  • pink-green-and-lilac-primersTinted Formulas: light pink primers can add a glow. Lilac shades brighten sallow skin, and green formulas neutralize redness.
  • Don’t Pile Up: When you overload on primer, it piles under your foundation, instead a small drop will rub into the skin for even coverage.
  • Pat your Eyes: Pat around the eyes and on the lids, primer acts as a three-in-one. It prevents makeup from smudging by absorbing oils, it softens, and it counteracts redness.
  • **TIP: To set your makeup, follow this order: primer, liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer, translucent powder. Without a dusting a powder, the water in your makeup and the silicones in most primers repel each other.

Baby Johnson Cleans your Makeup Brushes

IMG_5365Cleaning your makeup brushes on a regular basis is an absolute must for many reasons.  After multiple uses, bristles begin to build up with residual makeup, which makes them less effective when it comes to application and they become a home for bacteria that will irritate your skin and cause breakouts.

Professional makeup artists usually clean their brushes after every use, but for us at-home users, every week is a good time, but again it depends on often you use them.

    • Step 1 You’ll need Baby Johnson and a fresh towel to lay the brushes on to dry. .
    • Step 2 Add Baby Johnson on to a surface , run your brush’s tip under lukewarm water and gently swirl the brush tip of a surface (a bowl). Tip: Never turn brushes up vertically — make sure they’re always facing downward — otherwise, water will weaken the glue that holds the bristles together.
    • Step 3 Once all the residue is completely gone, set your brush flat on the towel to dry.

Instead of using a bowl or the surface of my sink I’ve been using the Cleaning Mat by Sigma Beauty. I love it because it has 7 different textures to remove everything off your makeup brush without damaging the brush.

    Smarter Ways to Wear Makeup…

You wake up every morning and wear the same makeup you’ve been wearing for years, same routine? Well, save time and energy to wear makeup the smarter way, it’s easier than you think.

    • Prep the Skin:
Preparing the skin is a must before you apply any type of foundation. This means starting with a light moisturizer with SPF and primer, Apply moisturizer first and allow it to set a minute, then apply primer. Taking these steps prior to foundation will ensure your skin is both protected, moisturized and smoother with less visible pores and fine lines.
    • Translucent Powder:
Translucent pressed powder is the great equalizer if you’ve applied too much eyeshadow or blush. Blend away a bit of the excess and pat on some translucent powder.
    • Order:
Apply lipstick first and then add your lip liner. Once lipstick is applied you can see exactly where you need the lip liner. Moreover applying eyeshadow first before foundation can be a great clean up time saver.
    • Blending:
Blend the shadow on your lids right into the liner, no one will be able to tell where the eye shadow ends and the line begins, so the liner will look perfect. Also make sure you blend the foundation really well. My favourite blending product is the Beauty Blender, it leaves no residue.
    • Perfect lips:
Use a colorless lip pencil prior to lipstick or lip liner application. This will reduce appearance of any fine lines around lips! Try using lip liner as your lip color, too. Line outer lips and fill in with same color.

    Clump the Lashes

Sometimes I love the idea of makeup being a little bit messy. Mascara is the best cosmetic to achieve this look.

For this look, apply multiple coats of mascara, deliberately clumping the lashes together and tapping the skin under the lower lashes with the end of the wand. Careful though you don’t want to be too messy too.

    For Flawless Foundation

When foundation is done wrong, there’s no hiding the mistake. You need to learn/ know how to apply it because a bad foundation always shows.

Use a Brush: Spread foundation into the skin with light, circular motions. This technique also lets you use less product and build coverage, since it’s easier to add more foundation than to take off excess.

Apply foundation everywhere: You probably already know to blend foundation past your jawline and onto the neck, but if your neckline is showing, you’ll want to blend the color there too. Plus, don’t forget the ears! Fair-skinned complexions in particular are susceptible to redness on the ears. P.S. blend a light layer of foundation over your eyelids and lips.

Use highlighter before foundation: there’s no strict or defined way of applying makeup, some people apply concealers before foundation others don’t but I can tell you what actually works. for a subtle natural look, you can actually apply your highligher before the foundation so the glow looks more natural, as if it’s actually coming from your face (natural light). Having the highligher applied before your foundation can help last a full day, I don’t know about you but when I apply the highligher after foundation it tends to get a little dull throughout the day. Having it underneath, gives that glow.

Coconut Oil as a Makeup Remover?

Coconut oil, a favorite of the Victoria’s Secret Models, that reminds you of the sand on your feet and salted breeze by the beach.

Other than its fresh and beach-y scent it has great benefits for the skin, acting as a makeup remover is one of them. I was surprised by how quickly it took off eye makeup and by how easily it worked and it actually removes waterproof mascara without rubbing the eye out.

Surprisingly so many celebrities are on for this routine, some use it as a natural mouth wash (removing stains from the teeth), some use it as a makeup remover and others use it as a form of the “no make up look” as a dewy look.

Miranda Kerr – uses coconut oil for the face and hair. (hawtcelebs.com)

Here’s How:- Since coconut oil is solid at room temperature, scoop out a little and rub it between your fingers to warm it up first. Smooth that over your skin with your fingers, then wipe it off with a dry cotton ball and it’ll take your makeup with it. Repeat until all of your makeup is gone and then maybe one or two more times.

Why?: Coconut oil breaks up water-resistant substances used in eye shadow and mascara, releasing them from the skin and lashes, it’ll even leave your skin softer and younger-looking. It’s great for your skin, because it moisturizes, soothes and hydrates.

***Disclaimer : Please do not use if you have allergies or skin irritation.

    Baking — yeah, make-up baking

We can never get enough of upcoming makeup trends and techniques. Contouring, Strobing and now Baking. I am sure you came across makeup baking over the internet, so what is it? and how do you do it?

Baking makeup has been popular in the drag community for years and is even used by Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist (Mario) . To “bake your makeup” means to let your concealer sit on your face for 10 to 20 minutes before blending it, so that your own body heat enables the makeup to melt into your skin and cause it to change color and texture.

baking-largeStep one: apply eye cream around the area to minimise caking.

Step two: dab a thick, creamy concealer in a layer under the eyes and moving towards the temples, blending with a sponge.

Step four: dust translucent powder over the concealed under-eye, to set.

Step five: now that you’ve pre-concealed, you can bake. Dampen a sponge, dip it into more powder and with a suitably heavy-hand, apply a layer under the eyes

Step six: wait for  your face bake for anywhere between 15 to 20 minutes.

Step seven: With a clean fluffy brush, dust away any excess from your under-eyes.

    OR,Baking-Beauty-Trend

You can just forget about all the powder and pre concealing and just apply primer, foundation just like you regularly do, go with your normal makeup routing. apply your under-eye concealer in a sideways triangular shape while staying in the cheekbone area. let your concealer sit for at least 10 to 20 minutes. Use the time to line your lips, style your hair, or fill in your brows. Then Blend 🙂

    The Power of Blue

bella blue “I think fashion trends are moving away from minimalism,” celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose tells (Refinery29). “You see bolder colors, prints and embellished items… so, in turn, you see fun, colorful, and decorative makeup like blue shadow really coming back in a big way.”

We saw blue eyeshadow rocking the runway but little did we know that it would actually turn into a trend that almost everyone is willing to try it. Pastel and metallic eyeshadows are more accepted and used for all skin tones, now its a royal darkish blue that’s waving the eye makeup look. So does it work on absolutely everyone? YES and here’s how.

From my perspective I actually believe that the cobalt blue eyeshadow has nothing to do with skin tone, it’s just a matter of self confidence whether you want to get noticed wearing it or not and be completely shy about it. However some of the shades suit one skin tone more than the other.

maquillaje-3a-a1- It’s way easier to apply – Rule #1 try not to make it look so perfect, the whole point of it is just applying it on the eye making it look disconnected and undone.

2- Tone it down – since you are going bold on the eyes tone it down with the lipstick, mascara, eyeliner and false lashes (Ishimmer : La Belle Lashes, Vamp Lashes and Cluster Lashes). Multiple celebrity makeup artists suggest to go for a dewy skin look rather than the matte look, just to keep the skin looking fresh and vibrant.

3- Smoke it – you can use two shades of blue for a smoky eye effect, only this time it’s blue, for an eye opening look you can add a shimmered eyeshadow towards the inner corners of the eyes.

4- If you want to take this trend one step at a time you can start with a blue wing eyeliner that’s on the upper lid, or a blue eyeshadow that’s traced along the lower lash line. shay-mitchellAccording to Elle Magazine, darker skin tones tend to look better with aquamarine/ teal shades of blue, when lighter skin tones tend to look better with cobalt, royal and darker shades of blue. But really just like I said, I think you can flaunt any shade of blue no matter the skin tone, it’s a statement look just depends if you’re up for it or not.
